Everyone thinks $BB is just a dead phone company. They’re wrong. They’re effectively the Windows/Android for the next era of industrial robotics.
They had a hard rally recently, they have an iot operating system called QNX. Its embedded in 235 million cars worldwide, and IVY a partnership with amazon. As carmakers transition to subscriptions over licenses, this operating system becomes the gold standard. They also have Cylance acquired which gives them ai driven endpoint protection.
The QNX software is going into other devices as well. This includes ai enabled machines, surgical robots, and factory automation. As edge AI gets built out, the it will need to run on a platform, and blackberries QNX is that platform for a vast swathe of IOT. They have a majority chokehold on these devices, which means they are the gatekeeper that edge AI looking to expand into the iot market will have to pay.
Also, they have a moat. The QNX OS has 26262 ASIL-D certification. Windows and linux do not. Freezing up or crashing in surgery=lawsuit. Same for driving a car.
My position: 300 shares. As far as AI plays go, I think this one is underdeveloped.
