Are we sleeping on DXYZ now that SpaceX went public and Anthropic is next? Trading BELOW NAV under a $1B market cap.

AI SUMMARY — DXYZ (Destiny Tech100) is a closed-end fund trading below NAV (~12-13% discount) with ~$880-930M market cap, holding pre-IPO stakes in major AI/tech companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Stripe. The thesis is that upcoming IPOs (particularly Anthropic) could re-rate the fund to a NAV premium, but risks include high fees (2.8%+), infrequent NAV updates, and unpredictable IPO timing.

What’s up speculators

Is anyone else watching Destiny Tech100 ($DXYZ) right now, or is my smooth brain missing an obvious catch?

Now that SpaceX is already out in the wild following its massive public debut, the pre-IPO spotlight has shifted directly onto Anthropic (which is gearing up for its own massive public listing). The problem is, retail usually gets zero access to pre-IPO allocations and gets stuck buying the top on Day 1.

$DXYZ is a closed-end fund that hoards these exact private unicorns (Anthropic, OpenAI, Stripe, and residual pre-IPO allocations).

A few things that caught my eye right now:

  1. Sub-$1B Market Cap: Despite holding indirect exposure to the biggest private AI and tech names on the planet, its equity market cap is hovering around \~$880M–$930M.
  2. Trading AT A DISCOUNT to NAV: Remember when this thing launched and regards bid it up to a 500% premium? Market price is currently bouncing around \~$29–$30, while reported Net Asset Value (NAV) sits at \~$34.30. It’s literally trading at a \~12–13% discount to the private equity on its books.
  3. The Anthropic Catalyst: Anthropic is one of its largest private tech positions (via Series B preferred exposure). When official Anthropic S-1 filings or IPO pricing drops, doesn't retail hype re-rate $DXYZ back to trading at a premium over NAV?

The Catch:

Fees are non-trivial (\~2.8%+ expense ratio) and private asset valuations update periodically rather than in real time.

Is this a free discount on pre-IPO AI tenders, or am I about to get my hands chopped off holding a CEF bag? What’s the play here?
