A bit of a personal background. I am semi-retired at the moment but I’ve had close to 20 years of experience in the West Coast tech scene (and my account is almost as old), and I’ve personally worked at various big techs, including Meta.
These days I dabble with AI a lot for personal projects, and I fully understand how powerful the latest models are from frontier labs (Ant/OAI). Ever since Opus 4.6 the whole software industry has been fully taking the AI pill. Teams everywhere have been working with MCPs, custom harnesses, agents and now experimenting with approaches like swarms, etc.
However outside of the industry, most “normies” still see AI as nothing but more than glorified chatbots. This disconnect is why so many people think AI as a tech is way overhyped and even today you read upvoted comments like “LLM is just fancier auto-complete that can’t solve actual problems”.
I think Muse is about to reduce that gap drastically and will impact the whole industry much more broadly.
First of all it’s a master class in terms of UI/UX. I have worked at both Google and Meta and my opinion is that Google’s engineering team has always been world class but Meta’s product mogs Google’s product people every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Muse may not have the best LLM model behind the scene, but its overall ease of use, UX delight and lack of learning curve is something I’ve not seen in the entire AI space, whether enterprise or consumer.
And most importantly, it introduces AI agents that actually works well to the normies without all the bullshit associated with setting up something like OpenClaw.
For example: my friends and I are doing a Japan trip in 2 months and we just gave our itinerary to Muse and asked it to go to JR websites and book Shinkansen green car tickets for the trips. And it just fucking did it, navigating the clusterfuck that is the usual Japanese website design.
Another example: I gave Muse my full name and the cities I’ve lived in the past 20 years (no full address), and asked it to search through unclaimed properties of mine. And it helped me find a couple hundred bucks of unclaimed properties from those states. (Everyone should do this with or without AI but that’s a different discussion).
So yes, Muse will continue to take off in the consumer space. However I don’t think the impact will stop there. Once the normies have their expectations set by apps like Muse, they will want that kind of capability introduced to their workplace too. We aren’t just talking about large enterprises (which some are doing on with AI agents adoption, most are struggling), but even small and medium businesses.
So for the first time, the non-tech general public is about to experience the reason why the whole tech industry has been in an AI psychosis since a year ago.
And because of that, I’m short term bullish on Meta (I think Muse will become one of their biggest products), and potentially other AI plays (can Microsoft build something similar for the business world? Can Google? Amazon? Anthropic/OAI? Either way AI inference will be in more demand).
Positions: I’m long Google, Meta and Nvidia
